Dr. Samir Chatterjee is a Professor and Fletcher Jones Chair of Technology Management and Design at Claremont Graduate University. He co-founded VoiceCore Technologies, a startup that was acquired by BellSouth in 2001. He is currently the Founder & CEO of DCL health, a digital healthcare startup. He has published over 165 peer reviewed articles in IS and Computer Science area. He is also considered a leading technology designer and strategist for 21st-century health care. His entry into health care field has been via Telemedicine. Today he leads the emerging field of Persuasive Technology, a stimulating interdisciplinary research field that focuses on how interactive technologies and services can be designed to influence people’s attitudes and support positive behavior change. He serves as co-EIC of Health Systems journal. He is currently on the editorial board of ISR, JAIS and has served as AE on MISQ and several IEEE/ACM journals. He is the author of the best-selling book on Design Research in Information Systems and is the founding father of the DESRIST conference. In May 2015, he was awarded the distinguished lifetime achievement award for contributions to Design Science Research, presented by the AIS design community. In 2017 he was selected as Schoeller Senior Fellow 2017 by Dr. Theo and Friedl Schoeller Research Center for Business and Society in Nuremberg Germany. In August of 2017, Chatterjee was chosen as a recipient of the Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Samman, an award given by NRI Welfare Society of India in recognition of the high accomplishments of Indians living outside of India. He has received over $3.6 mil of funding from federal (NSF, NIH) and private foundations. When he is not doing science and design, he is an avid musician and composer. In 2021, his debut new age album under his stage name of Samir Bodhi made it to the Grammy ballots for nomination. He lives in Southern California with his wife and son.
